The challenge

This gaming platform had two different problems stacked on top of each other. The first was staying visible in a competitive, year-round gaming niche where every competitor was also investing in SEO. The second was handling the single biggest traffic spike of the year, when interest in the category multiplies almost overnight around a major seasonal sporting event.

Most SEO strategies aren't built to flex for something that dramatic. A program tuned for steady, predictable growth tends to either miss the spike entirely or buckle under the sudden load — and a missed spike in a seasonal category doesn't come back around until next year.

What we did

We ran the full SEO stack — technical, content and link building — alongside ASO testing across both app stores, treating search and app-store visibility as one connected system rather than two separate workstreams.

  • Built a dedicated push timed to the seasonal spike to capture high-intent search traffic while it was happening, not after — including content and technical readiness well ahead of the peak window
  • Connected the SEO funnel directly to app installs instead of treating search and app growth as separate channels with separate reporting
  • Kept the technical foundation solid enough to hold up under a sudden, multi-week surge in traffic without the site buckling under its own success
  • Maintained the year-round content and authority program so the seasonal push had a strong foundation to spike from, rather than starting cold
